- Newton Police Patrolmen’s Union Contract Settlement – The arbitration settlement between the
City and patrolmen’s union will be discussed at a special Finance Committee meeting on Tuesday,
September 7th at 7:00p.m. Because of our summer schedule, the vote on this item will be delayed
almost a month so the hope was to hear and vote out the item later that night at the full Board. As
has been our practice this year with larger items, Ald. Gentile provided the Board a copy of the
arbitration judgment at our Board meeting last Monday evening. If you have questions regarding
this item, please provide your questions through Shawna Sullivan so we can get them answered in a timely fashion. I will speak with David and Ald. Gentile about any issues regarding the placement of this document online. If you need a copy in the meantime, please speak with either David or Shawna. - Chestnut Hill Square Public Hearing – As reported through Alderman Hess-Mahan last week, the Land Use Committee will hold a public hearing on the Chestnut Hill Square special permit application on Tuesday, September 28th at 7:45p.m. in the Aldermanic Chamber. The plans can be reviewed at http://www.newtonma.gov/Planning/chestnuthillsquare/index.htm.
- Chairmen’s Meeting - September – After Labor Day, I will be having a Chairmen’s Meeting (all Board members are invited to attend). I will follow up on the date. David Olson will be providing and update and discussion on the Open Meeting Law. I would also like to discuss some items that VP Lappin and I have been working on and planning for the remainder of the calendar year.
